Hello again, class!
Today we are going to begin a project based on the book we just finished- The Boxcar Children. I know how much you enjoyed this book, and I cannot wait to see what you can do with your imagination!
Entry Event: You are going to choose one of the main characters to focus on: Henry, Jessie, Violet, or Benny. Sorry, you cannot choose Watch! Once you have picked, you will use Bubbl.us to create a character web. You must think of at least three character traits, and give an example for each one. I created one for Henry as an example:

Once you have completed your character web, you are going to pick your favorite scene from the book where you think your character really shined.
Activity 1: Please create a comic strip of that scene using Pixton. To see the rubric, requirements, and an example, click here. You can upload yours right there for me to look at.

Activity 2: Next, build a floor plan of the boxcar. Since the book is old and had very few pictures, we used our imagination to decide what the inside of the boxcar must look like. Use Floorplanner (floorplanner.com) to design the boxcar just as you imagined in your head. Be creative! An example of mine is below:
Activity 3: Lastly, you will create a timeline that describe the main events for your character in the order they occur in the story. You will use a tool called HSTRY for this. To create your own timeline, go to edu.hstry.co. A sample timeline can be seen below:
When all of these steps are complete, please upload your projects to my Weebly website for everyone to view, and for me to grade! You will upload your assignments to the "Student Work" section of my website. Please see the rubric below before turning in your assignments.
